The Mazambala Island Lodge is a haven of rest in a tropical paradise. It is situated on an island in the Kwando river in the Caprivi region of Namibia, a place that the local tribes call “the island of abundance”. You are accommodated in 12 reed and thatch bungalows, all en suite. The thatched restaurant is built on 2,5 meter high stilts, overlooks the flood plain and serves delicious meals. There are many animal and bird species. The guides at the Lodge are walking encyclopedias about the traditional medicinal uses of plants and trees in this part of the Caprivi.

From Damaraland you will most likely drive to the Skeleton Coast. Just north of Henties Bay you may well consider a night at Cape Cross Lodge which is at the seal colony north of Henties Bay. Swakopmund is about 1000 km from Mazambala Island Lodge in the Caprivi. In Swakopmund you can stay in self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation at Alte Brucke or at the Hotel Pension Rapmund Hotel. A very upmarket and special lodge in Swakopmund on the Swakop River is The Stiltz.
Your next stop will most likely be Sossusvlei which is deep in the Namib Desert. Sossusvlei is known for its very high red sand dunes but also for excellent accommodation. If you want to stay on the main road you will drive along the Caprivi Highway from Mazambala Island Lodge near Kongola and then down to the Namibian capital of Windhoek where you can stay at Arebbusch self-catering ( self contained ). if tou are prepared to drive furhter you can stay at Mariental River Chalets.
Three days drive from Mazambala Island Lodge near Kongola in the Caprivi in Namibia lies Grunau Country House bed and breakfast and Grunau Lodge self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation in Grunau, Namibia.
